THE MOUNTAINTOP

by Katori Hall
Feb 23 – Mar 10, 2024

From Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Katori Hall comes this gripping reimagination of the night before the assassination of the civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1968. On a stormy night in Memphis, Dr. King has just delivered his seminal “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” speech. When he retires to the Lorraine Motel, a mysterious stranger arrives, pressing him to confront his destiny – and what his legacy will mean for America.

HEREIN LIES THE TRUTH

by Aaron Pang
Apr 18 – 28, 2024

This is the autobiographical story of an accident that changed the trajectory of the playwright’s life. A story of recovery and a journey towards finding intimacy. It’s also a play that will make you question what you think you know – and how preconceived notions about disability and race can blur the truth. Who are stories for? Are they for the listener – or for the person sharing their truth? A world premiere from solo writer-performer Aaron Pang, a current MFA candidate at the Iowa Nonfiction Writers Workshop whose work has been performed at The Moth.

Oct 20 – Nov 5, 2023

From the celebrated screenwriter of Tender Mercies and To Kill a Mockingbird, this play tells the story of Carrie Watts, a woman who longs to return to her childhood home of Bountiful, Texas, which she hasn’t seen in 20 years. But she finds herself at odds with her son and daughter-in-law, who are struggling to fulfill their own dreams. A play about family, love, and obligation… and the journeys that define us.

BRONTË: THE WORLD WITHOUT (AMERICAN PREMIERE)

by Jordi Mand
Nov 30 – Dec 10, 2023

A beautiful intersection of art and family: the story of the three Brontë sisters: Charlotte, Emily, and Anne during the period in which they wrote masterpieces such as Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. In moments of personal and financial struggle, with their reverend father sick and their brother wasting away, they learn to trust the stories within them. But, as ambitious women in the 1800s, their pioneering literary careers do not come without costs. This play premiered at the Stratford Festival In Canada in 2018 and will be receiving its American Premiere at Riverside Theatre.

A CASE FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD

by Samuel D. Hunter
Jan 19 – Feb 4, 2024

A prescient meditation on human resilience from the playwright and screenwriter of last year’s Academy Award-winning film The Whale. Set inside a small office in southern Idaho, two men meet to go through the confusing and often maddening application process for a loan. But while facts like income and interest are seemingly cut and dry, relationships are not so simple. The complex choices of modern life are soon brought to the fore in this new play that vibrates with intense urgency.
