Synopsis: Shakespeare may have written Julius Caesar as the first of his plays to be performed at the Globe, in 1599. For it, he turned to a key event in Roman history. “Julius Caesar” portrays the betrayal and assassination of the titular character, Julius Caesar, by a group of Roman senators, including Brutus and Cassius. The play navigates the ensuing power struggles, with Caesar’s allies seeking vengeance against the conspirators, leading to a series of battles and political maneuvering. Ultimately, it culminates in the rise of Caesar’s adopted heir, Octavius Caesar, and the establishment of imperial Rome.
