Acting
Grades: 2-5
Dates: June 20-24, 10 a.m.-12 noon
Location: Riverside Theatre, 213 N. Gilbert St.
Tuition: $100; $175 if paired with Improvise!
Get in on the action! Use your body, voice and imagination to gain basic acting skills as we create characters and scenes. During the last class, family and friends will be invited to see what we have been learning. Taught by theatre artist John Kaufmann.
Improvise!
Grades: 2-5
Dates: June 20-24, 12:30-2:30 p.m.
Location: Riverside Theatre, 213 N. Gilbert St.
Tuition: $100; $175 if paired with Acting
Amaze friends and family with your ability to create theatre and make laughs out of thin air! We’ll learn improvisational techniques through playful interactive games, and then create scenes ourselves. On the last day, we’ll share our creative talents with family and friends. Taught by drama educator Kizzy Marco.
Fast Thoughts & Fist Fights
Grades: 5-8
Dates: June 27-July 1, 10 a.m. – 12 noon
Location: Riverside Festival Stage, lower City Park
Tuition: $100; $175 if paired with Improvise! II
Be part of the summer Festival magic while you learn basic stage combat
techniques – safely executed slaps, hair-pulls, and round-house punches –
and how they enhance comic and dramatic action. This class will inspire
creativity, strengthen performance skills. The last day will culminate in an
action-packed demonstration! Taught by Shakespeare Festival actor Cristina
Panfilio.
Improvise! II
Grades: 5-8
Dates: June 27-July 1, 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Location: Riverside Theatre, 213 N. Gilbert St.
Tuition: $100; $175 if paired with Fast Thoughts & Fist Fights
In this active class, we will learn how to “say yes” to spontaneous offers, and building scenes and stories through group agreement. We will experiment with many different improvisational structures while you learn to trust your own instincts and imagination! Taught by Shakespeare Festival actor Kelly Gibson.
Young People’s Intensive
Grades: 8-12
Dates: July 5-8, 11-15, 12:30-4:30 p.m.

Tuition: $315 (includes Festival admission)
In this two week intensive, you will build relationships with peers who are as serious about theatre as you are. Taught by professional actor/director Saffron Henke, you will focus on contemporary and classic scene work, Viewpoints movement technique, improvisation, and audition technique.
There will also be specialty workshops in voice (Martin Andrews), classical text (Shakespeare Festival actor Peter Eli Johnson), and weaponry (Festival actor Zachary Andrews). The training you receive in this program will have a lasting impact on your life as an actor and communicator.
All students perform in a final public showcase on the evening of July 15.
