DISCUSSION THIS THURSDAY, NOV. 3 AT 5:30 P.M.
DEALING
WITH ALZHEIMER’S: PATIENTS AND
CAREGIVERS
What can the caregivers do to
cope – both with the patient and with their own
difficulties?
Are there ways in which
caregivers, especially family members, can be
helpful?
Hosted by University of Iowa
English Professor Miriam Gilbert, this free
discussion will take a look at Mike Finn’s new
play, THE QUIET MOMENT, and the ways in
Alzheimer's Disease affects the patients and
caregivers who appear in the play. Joining us is
special guest Howard Butcher, Associate
Professor at the UI College of Nursing, and an
extensive researcher on the topic of
Alzheimer's. Tickets are complimentary, and can
be reserved by calling the Riverside Theatre Box
Office at 319-338-7672.
Be sure to stop
by and enjoy a glass of wine or cup of coffee
beginning at 5:00 p.m. before each program, and
enjoy the current art display by Shari Davis in
the Box Office lobby.
THE
QUIET MOMENT November 11-13 Irish
playwright Mike Finn brings his masterful work
to the Riverside Theatre stage for this
script-in-hand performance directed by Kristin
Horton. Delve into the heart of memory as a man
returns to Ireland to discover that his father’s
mind is failing. Without a future and unable to
find each other in the present, they plumb their
shared memories, looking for that elusive point
of contact that will confirm them, once again,
as father and son.
Tim Budd, Leslie
Charipar, Ron Clark, and Gerry Roe will perform.
This production is sponsored by the UI College
of Nursing and Mercy Hospital.

THE
ANNUAL FUND DRIVE HAS BEGUN! It's
annual fund drive time! Letters were recently
mailed to all theatre patrons. Our goal is to
raise $30,000 to support programming at
Riverside Theatre.
This year, in honor of
our 25th Anniversary, we are asking donors to
add a one-time gift to our 25 campaign. Half of
that added gift will be directed to our
endowment fund, and the other half will benefit
a new "Artistic Excellence" fund. Monies in this
fund will go DIRECTLY to bringing the best and
brightest talents to Riverside's
stage.
Thanks to all for your continued
support. Please contact Sara O'Leary at
319-887-1360 if you have any questions.
