
About Riverside Theatre in the Park (RTP) and the Riverside Festival Stage:
During the months of June and July, Riverside Theatre performs an outdoor season at the Riverside Festival Stage in Iowa City’s Lower City Park. This Globe-inspired, open-air theatre seats 472 people and is set against a bluff, adjacent to a willow-ringed reflecting pond.
The summer season consists of two plays, which run in repertory for four weeks. In 2013, the Riverside Theatre summer season will run from June 14 - July 7. This year's productions are Shakespeare's drama HAMLET and Sheridan's comedy THE SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL.
Concessions: Wraps, chips, desserts and an assortment of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are sold at the box office before the show and during intermission.

Parking: Free parking is available in Lower and Upper City Park. Handicapped parking spaces are available in front of the theatre.
Weather Policy: Performances at the Riverside Theatre Festival Stage continue during a light rain, so please bring a wrap. If audience members would like to use an umbrella, they may relocate to a designated row so as not to block audience view.
In case of heavy rain, the show may be delayed up to 45 minutes. If a performance has to be canceled due to severe weather, tickets may be exchanged for another performance of the same production.
Refunds: Refunds are only available if the performance is cancelled before the first act is completed. If a performance is cancelled during the second act, tickets may be exchanged for another date of the same show.
For refunds, mail the tickets to the Riverside Theatre Box Office, 213 N. Gilbert St, Iowa City IA 52245, with a note requesting a refund. All Riverside Theatre refund claims for the summer season must be recieved by August 1, 2012. Service charges are non-refundable.
Ticket Exchanges: Tickets may be exchanged for the same production by contacting the Box Office at least 24 hours in advance of the performance.
If you are not able for some reason to exchange your ticket for a different night, returned tickets may qualify as a tax deductible donation if returned to the Box Office at least 30 minutes prior to show time.
If a performance is cancelled during the second act of a show due to weather, tickets may be exchanged for another date of the same show.

Located in the historic Northside Neighborhood, just a few blocks north of downtown Iowa City, the Gilbert Street space is an intimate, 118-seat modified black box theatre. Riverside produces a full season of plays from September to April at this location, referred to as the Gilbert Street Season. Shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Gilbert Street, begin at 7:30 p.m. On Sundays, our matinees begin at 2:00 p.m.
During the summers, Riveside Theatre produces Riverside Theatre in the Park, held at the Festival Stage in lower City Park. Traditionally, one Shakespeare play and one classic play run during June and July.
Over the course of the year shows include the classics…contemporary and new work… world premieres…musicals…an annual monologue festival…and more.
PARKING:
For Gilbert Street, parking is available in a metered lot –free after 5:00 p.m. and on Sundays—located behind the theatre; enter from Market Street. Limited street parking is also available.
At Riverside Theatre in the Park, there is parking in a lot in front of the Festival Stage and in additional lots in Lower City Park.
A selection of restaurants and cafes are within walking distance of the Gilbert Street theatre.
The facilitie are wheelchair accessible—contact our Box Office for further information or seating requests. Hearing augmentation units, provided by the Old Capital Sertoma Club, are available for checkout at the Gilbert Street Box Office..
Riverside Theatre does not cancel or reschedule performances due to inclement weather for Gilbert Street productions.

However, returned tickets may qualify as a tax deductible donation if returned to the Box Office at least 30 minutes prior to show time.
