About YPC
This summer
training program for high school actors and designers is a
great way to get professional theatre experience -- and have fun while
doing it!
YPC offers
two tracks: one for actors and one for designers/technicians.
Actors meet Mondays through Thursdays
Designers/technicians meet Fridays
and Saturdays
Both teams come together at the start of
technical rehearsals.
All participants receive an intensive, hands-on, five week experience
in staging their own unique vision of a classic play.
Special events include a potluck picnic, and attending both
professional productions of the Riverside Theatre Shakespeare Festival.
The 2010 YPC production will be Twelfth Night

Frequently Asked Questions about YPC 2010
Q: Hey! What's the
play for 2010?
The 2010 YPC production will be Twelfth Night
(or What
You Will).
In Twelfth Night,
a harrowing shipwreck separates twins Viola and Sebastian. They wash up
on the shores of Illyria, a land turned
upside-down by passion and inhabited by a
colorful cast of joyful and melancholy characters.
The
twins
manage
to
disrupt
almost
everyone's lives in this madcap tale of
mistaken identities, cunning plans, and miraculous discoveries.
Q: Help! I
have an audition scheduled. NOW WHAT???
Things to remember for YPC auditions...
1) Bring a recent photo of yourself. It
doesn't have to be professional quality, school pictures are fine!
2) Arrive 15 minutes before your audition
time to fill out an audition form and choose what you'll read. There
will be copies of short speeches from the play available.
3) Your audition will be a "cold reading"
of the speech - NO MEMORIZATION NECESSARY. This is an on-your-feet
reading, trying to make clear what your character is saying. (Reading
the play before the audition is a great idea!)
4) You'll also have a few minutes to chat
with the folks from Riverside so you can get to know them and they can
get to know you.
5) Have fun!
If you're interviewing for a position as
either stage manager or design team member, just relax. Arrive early,
fill out the form, and then we'll talk with you for 5 minutes. Be
yourself! Tell us why you want to work with YPC.
